This filter can work in two ways. You can either use it with the with the camera’s default automatic white balance and exposure, giving you vibrantly coloured images with point and shoot simplicity. Or you can use it with manual (custom) white balance giving you much more control and images over a wider depth range. Most users start using the filter in fully auto mode and then switch over to using it with manual white balance. The fact that this filter is designed to work without white balance makes it highly suited for use with cameras without manual white balance control.
The Auto-Magic filter allows you to take colourful underwater pictures without the hassle and difficulty of getting good results with the internal flash or an external strobe. The Auto-Magic delivers great colours without the risk of backscatter. The before and after images on this page show the effect of adding the Auto-Magic filter while on Auto white balance and Auto Exposure.
The Auto-Magic filter is available in just one size (50x50mm or 2” square) of optical quality polyester gel, which should fit over the lens of almost all digital compact cameras. The filter is pre-packed in packs of 3, perfect for the traveling photographer in case you damage or lose a sheet in the field. The filter is supplied with a detailed instruction sheet filled with tips on how to use it and a stencil to help you cut it.
